Sponsored listings

Some pages on Toothfully show one or two practices marked Sponsored above the list of dentists. These practices pay us to appear there. Here’s what that does and doesn’t mean.

What sponsorship doesn’t change

  • Reviews and ratings. The rating on a sponsored listing is the practice’s real rating. Paying never changes a rating, and practices can’t pay to remove or edit reviews.
  • The normal list. Sponsored listings sit above the list of practices, in their own box. The list itself is in the same order whether practices pay or not.
  • Our checks. Reviews for sponsored practices are checked in exactly the same way as everyone else’s.

How they’re chosen

Sponsored listings are chosen by the page you’re on (the town, and the treatment if there is one), never by tracking you. They don’t use cookies or anything you’ve looked at before. If more than one practice sponsors a page, the order changes each time.

Only practices using our Verified Reviews plan can sponsor a page, so every sponsored practice invites its patients to leave checked reviews. A practice that has paid for Verified Reviews never has other practices advertised on its own page.

Rules for practices

By booking a sponsored listing, a practice agrees that:

  • Its listing and short line follow the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising (the CAP Code) and the General Dental Council’s guidance on advertising. That means nothing misleading, no claims it can’t prove (such as “best”, “cheapest”, “guaranteed” or “painless”), no prices it won’t honour, and nothing that plays on patients’ fears.
  • It only sponsors treatment pages for treatments it provides.
  • We check every short line before it shows and may decline or remove one without giving a reason. We can also remove a sponsored listing that breaks these rules, and refund the unused part of the month.
  • Sponsorship is monthly and can be stopped at any time from the practice portal. It runs to the end of the month already paid for. There’s no refund for part of a month, except as above.
  • A listing only shows while the practice’s Verified Reviews plan is active. If that plan ends, we stop the listing and stop charging for it.
  • We don’t promise a number of visits, clicks or calls. The practice portal shows how often each listing was shown and clicked.

Prices

£25 a month for a town page, £40 a month for a treatment page, and £75 a month for high-demand treatments such as implants and clear aligners. At most 2 practices can sponsor each page. Practices can book in their portal under Sponsored listings.
